Express International Translations Inc TIP: How do I become a translator? Given the volume of translations produced in the word, the number of schools teaching the art or science of translation is surprisingly low. Therefore, few professional translators have received their professional training in translation schools. The profession is largely unregulated. In theory, anybody speaking two languages can become a translator, but this does not mean that the person will be a good translator and become successful. It is not enough to just be conversant in two languages. The person must possess a very broad general culture as the person will be called upon to handle a large array of topics: accounting, mechanics, medicine, legal, humanities, biology... Then, the person must have excellent writing skills into the target language and stay away from literal translations (literal translations are often the hallmark of inexperienced translators or of translators lacking confidence). Next, the person must be professional with the client, which means offering courteous and timely service. If you believe that you meet these criteria, you may submit your resume to us. We will then evaluate your credentials and possibly as you to translate short texts at the beginning.
